Cultybraggan Camp, built in 1941 to house Prisoners of War, was taken over in 1948 by the MoD and subsequently bought in 2007 by the Comrie Development Trust on behalf of the local community. It is Scotland's only preserved Second World War PoW Camp and during its years under the auspices of the MoD, generations of cadets and training corps stayed there. Many veterans remember the camp fondly and re-visit it to see the work of the Comrie Heritage Group who are progressing towards its preservation and seek to promote its value as a historic environment. The camp contains nearly 100 buildings including Hut 1, formerly the guard house, and now a small exhibition centre.
The Heritage Group conduct fantastic guided tours at Cultybraggan including the famous guard block where some of the most notorious prisioners were kept.
