Medical Records Read Coder Due to the development of an exciting new Stratification tool, we have a requirement for a Medical records Read Coder to work within the various application’s data usage requirements. This is an important post ensuring patient data is correctly gathered, stored, grouped and available for distribution within the system. As well as dealing with incoming electronic patient records there will also be additional data sources that will need coding and integration. A good understanding of Read v2 & v3, SNOWMED CT Codes, familiarity with the HSCIC and TRUD web portals and experience using MIQUEST methodology is key, together with a sound knowledge of medical terminology and practice/hospital administration systems. This post would be suitable for someone currently dealing with coding medical records within a computer systems architecture. This could be a flexible role, either full or part-time. The salary for this post will depend on ability and experience. Essential Understanding of the Read code system and Medical Terminology Familiarity with HSCIC and TRUD Familiarity and experience of using the MIQUEST query methodology High level of computer literacy Effective communication skills Ability to work independently and to determine workload priorities Desirable Understanding of SNOWMED CT Codes Good Standard of education, preferably at degree level or above Any medical qualification relevant to this role Experience of working in General Practice or the NHS Experience of using Clinical Systems
