The lights soften, the mood settles. An audience waits for that first moment of sound. The Big Band is poised, relaxed, but with eyes anxious for the lead. Then, as if giving body to an echo, the murmured notes of ‘Moonlight Serenade’…and the night, it seems, is suddenly full and timeless.
There are those who watch and listen who tap a shy finger to the melodies, others who follow with a silent foot-beat, still others who murmur softly through the lyrics, and those who simply permit a fleeting smile. But common to all are memories.
With a full line-up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, a rhythm section and special guest vocalist Georgina Jackson, the Nick Ross Orchestra will faithfully recreate the wonderful sounds of such Big Bands as those led by Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Syd Lawrence.
Watford Colosseum is a 1,392 seat venue in the heart of Watford and is home to the best live music and entertainment outside London.
The Colosseum recently completed a £5.5 million refurbishment to bring it up to the standard of a world class venue it once was, complete with a Café Bar, Forum Restaurant and a number of bars as well as the main auditorium.
This concert venue is world renowned for its acoustic qualities, which means it has been used to record the soundtracks of Lord of the Rings, the Sound of Music and The Star Wars Trilogies.
Being so much more than a music venue, Watford Colosseum opens its doors to a range of live comedy and pop music, in addition to the conferences and weddings which suit a wide range of needs.
Watford Colosseum is owned by Watford Borough Council and managed by HQ Theatres & Hospitality, the UK’s second largest theatre operator. HQ Theatres parent company is Qdos Entertainment one of the UK’s biggest, broad-based entertainment groups in the UK
