About me
I treat all ages from new born babies to the elderly, office workers to professional sports people.
I aim to provide a professional service within a safe and caring environment and keep the patient at the centre of what I do. I want people to know that I have their best interests at heart and aim to treat everyone I see with patience, understanding and empathy. When you walk out of the doors we want you to feel relief from any discomfort you had, encouraged, genuinely cared for and most importantly inspired to take responsibility for your own well-being.
People will regularly come and see me for relief from back, neck and joint pain, sports injury, postural problems, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, headaches and much more. So don't put up with that pain or discomfort.
I use a variety of treatments according to the needs of the patient including:
* Pilates based exercise, Theraband, Swiss Balls
* Gait analysis
* Postural & nutritional advice, workstation setup using a
mocked up workstation here in the practice
* Acupuncture – Western and Traditional Chinese
* Mobilisations and joint manipulations
* Soft tissue massage and stretching
* Gentle fascial (connective tissue) techniques
* Ultra sound and other electrotherapy
* Variety of taping methods – myofascial, sports, McConnell
I tailor a treatment plan for a patient’s body and lifestyle - focusing not just on the cause of the pain, but also any maintaining factors (diet, poor posture, balance etc) that could cause the symptoms to linger. This involves the patient at all stages in their own treatment, thereby reducing the number of treatments required.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been practising for twelve years and have built up lots of experience working in clinics in London and Oxford as well as in a medical health centre alongside general practitioners.
Osteopaths are strictly regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and are required to renew their registration each year. As part of this process GOsC checks that Osteopaths remain in good health and good character, and have met mandatory CPD requirements to maintain the highest standards of competency, conduct and safety.
I seek to combine existing knowledge with new research in the field as well as regularly updating my learning by attending post graduate courses and regional osteopathic meetings. For example, courses I have attended over the last year include myofascial taping, fascial techniques and acupuncture for treatment of sports injuries.
Professional Development courses (CPD) over the years include ergonomics, gait analysis, sports injuries, rehabilitation, orthotics etc...
Although well qualified to treat all ages and conditions, I particularly enjoy treating pregnancy and post natal conditions (being a mum of four myself!) as well as using cranial osteopathy for both adults and babies/children. To this end, I have completed training programmes with the Upledger Institute and the Sutherland Cranial College as well as pediatric courses in order to treat babies and children.
