Poldark Tin Mine, Gardens & Open Air Museum is the only complete 18th century tin mine in Cornwall that is open to the general public for deep underground mine tours on several levels. The wooded valley riverside setting is the virtual cradle of tin working and the underground mine tours are internationally famous due to the filming of TV dramas and documentaries, the latest being the BBC Poldark Series. The author's final book was launched at the mine in 2002 when he was 92. It's a World Heritage site and the bronze age Scheduled Ancient Monument in the grounds bears witness to tin being worked around 4000 years ago. The museum is one of the oldest in Cornwall and is filled with ancient largely unique historic items with a wide variety of interest. The mine tour is one of the most amazing & adventurous things to do in all of Cornwall and has been open to visitors for over 40 years. A visit you will not forget.
