East Lambrook Manor Gardens is the quintessential English cottage garden created by the celebrated 20th century plantswoman and gardening writer Margery Fish. It was here that she developed her own style of gardening, combining old-fashioned and contemporary plants in a relaxed and informal manner to create a garden of great beauty and charm. This plantsman's paradise is characterised by its many winding paths between abundant beds and borders brim full of unusual plants. It is beautiful anytime and is particularly noted for its collection of unusual snowdrops in February, hellebores in March and hardy geraniums in May and June. In the middle of the garden the 17th century Malthouse is home to a simple cafe serving tea, coffee or home grown apple juice and excellent cakes. In high season the Malthouse Gallery hosts exhibitions by local artists. The specialist Margery Fish Plant Nursery, situated in the garden, stocks cottage garden favourites and interesting perennials, all at very reasonable prices. Rare snowdrops are for sale in February.
